Watch Deadpool 2 Reach Peak Irony With Celine Dion Video

With Deadpool 2 only a couple weeks away, one would think the movie would be nearly done with its fourth wall breaking, ironic, ridiculous, humor. Well, emphasis on "nearly." Today's extra special dose of Deadpool doesn't come with a hilarious trailer full of silly jokes. Instead, we get a Celine Dion music video. Seriously, a straight up, soaring vocals, Titanic-esque Celine Dion love song. Ironically, it's hilarious because most of it is played entirely seriously. Also, it happens to include Deadpool dancing in heels. You need to see this.

The song is called "Ashes" and it is, in fact, a real song that will be part of the Deadpool 2 soundtrack. In addition to the video being released on Celine Dion's Vevo YouTube channel, you can also listen to it on music streaming services like Spotify right now.

The funniest part of the video is, of course, the fact that most of it isn't actually funny. If you just listen to the song, or, you know, put in a loop while writing a news story about it, it's just a pop love song. The lyrics aren't funny, and without seeing Deadpool anywhere, like you do in the video, the song could be part of any movie soundtrack. Knowing that the song is going to be part of Deadpool 2, the fact that the song is about finding beauty emerge from ashes certainly makes some sense though.

Even the video opens with just a few shots of the Merc with a Mouth, including clips from the movie, the sort of thing you'd expect in any music video being used to promote a movie. Of course, things do start to get a little silly when "Deadpool" comes out and begins dancing on the stage alongside Celine Dion. I'm not sure who that actually is in the costume, but I'm going to assume it's actually Ryan Reynolds until he denies it. Even then, I'm not sure I'll believe him. It's the high heel boots that make it art. If Deadpool actually wears those in the movie I'll pay to see Deadpool 2 twice.

For something we're a bit more used to seeing from Deadpool, you need to wait until the song is over, and we see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool congratulating Celine Dion on a fantastic performance, one so good that it needs to be done again because Deadpool 2 isn't one of these high caliber prestige movies, it's a ridiculous superhero comedy. Needless to say, Dion is not pleased, because she doesn't phone it in, ever.

While Deadpool laments that he didn't hire N'Sync, I will lament that there isn't a track from the reunited N'Sync at all on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack. Along with the new song, the official tracklist has been released, and in addition to some additional new music, like the song "Welcome to the Party" by Diplo, French Montana & Lil Pump (feat. Zhavia Ward), the album will also include a number of classic songs that will surely be used in fantastic ways in the movie, like Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes," which means we can probably already add Say Anything... to the list of references that will be included in Deadpool 2.

In the end, the biggest thing about this song "Ashes" is, it's... good. It's not going to be everybody's cup of tea, but if you like Celine Dion, this song is probably going to push all your buttons. I can't wait to see how it gets used in the movie when Deadpool 2 comes out May 18.

Watch Dr. Strange Ask Tony Stark For Help In New Avengers: Infinity War Footage

We're so close to Avengers: Infinity War that you can feel it in the air. Marvel wants to remind you as well that we're only days away with a new spot that shows the first meeting between Doctor Stephen Strange and Tony Stark. One of the first questions that fans will have going into the new film is exactly what will happen that will bring these characters together. In the case of these two, it's apparently pretty simple. Doctor Strange walks through a portal and asks Iron Man for help. Check it out.

The new ad opens with the simple words "Tony Stark, we need your help." Doctor Strange has clearly come through one of his portals into some sort of park where we see Stark and Pepper Potts together. From there, we cut to a clip of Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner warning that Thanos is coming, followed by shots of numerous other heroes as the Avengers theme plays in the background. If you, for any reason, require help getting hyped for Infinity War, this brief clip may be just what you need.

By putting a couple of these clips together with others that we've seen, and what we know from previous films, we can potentially begin to piece together what the opening of Avengers: Infinity War actually looks like. We've seen Doctor Strange and Wong come upon a Bruce Banner who appears to have literally fallen to Earth. Since he was last with Thor and the post-credits scene of Thor: Ragnarok showed their ship being approached by something massive and scary, one assumes that Banner has escaped from Thanos, and the moment seen here where Banner is warning of Thanos follows that. From there, Doctor Strange goes into action recruiting heroes to help fight the coming threat. When Strange tells Tony Stark that "we" need your help, he's including Bruce Banner, and possible others who he has already gone to first. Though, if Strange has gone to other heroes first, don't tell Tony, his ego might not be able to take it.

It's hard to believe that after all the talking and the waiting we're only a few days away from Avengers: Infinity War finally being here. Considering just how big it was when the MCU finally brought The Avengers together for the first time, Infinity War is almost destined to become one of the biggest movies ever made. The question is just how big will it be? Does Marvel really have the potential to see two of the biggest movies of all time released within the same calendar year? It seems insane, but at the same time, it seems like it could very well happen.

Dog Days Actually Cast All Of Its Canine Characters Before Any Of The Humans

In case you couldn't tell by the title, dogs are a pretty crucial part of the new movie Dog Days. The movie weaves together five different stories set in Los Angeles, and one key thing all of them have in common is a special four-legged friend. This obviously made it very important for the production to find the best of the best when it came to animal talent -- and director Ken Marino recently told me that they were so key that they came on-board before any of the human stars:

I met some animal trainers, dog trainers, and we hired this guy, Mark Gordon, and he was great! And I said, 'Who you are your rock stars? Who are the dogs you're like, 'There's something special about this dog.' And so he immediately showed me a picture of the dog that plays Charlie, whose name I'm forgetting right now, but a great dog - the Goldendoodle. He was just quirky and weird and funny and awkward, and perfect. So I was like, 'Well, tell me the things that he does, and we'll write towards that.' And then we sort of started casting around that dog. The dogs were actually cast before the human actors were cast.

Dog Days held its domestic press junket this past week in Los Angeles, and it was during my sit down with Ken Marino that I learned about the unique casting strategy that the romantic comedy took collecting its ensemble. Evidently the film found it necessary to not only prioritize getting the dogs before bringing in the humans, but they even had an important impact on the script -- as their special abilities wound up dictating what they would ultimately be doing in the story.

The dog Ken Marino singles out, Charlie, is the one that is paired with Adam Pally's character, Dax, in the film. Dax is a lazy, irresponsible layabout, and he finds his lifestyle upended when his sister (Jessica St. Clair) and her husband (Thomas Lennon) have twins and need him to take care of their pet. It's a problematic situation because Dax lives in a building with a "no animals" policy, but also because Charlie is the kind of dog who does what he wants when he wants to: he'll flop right on top of Dax at a random moment, take forever on walks sniffing things, and wake him up early in the morning. It's definitely a part that requires a trained animal, and the dog that plays Charlie does a wonderful job.

In summary, Dog Days feels like a missed opportunity. It deserves credit for avoiding the kinds of gratuitous gross-out gags that fill so many PG-13 and R-rated comedies these days. But in the areas where Dog Days goes astray, its content issues, ahem, dog it just enough to keep it from being a solid family movie-night choice.
